Why we make you chat before you book
Most ride platforms hide the driver behind an algorithm and hand you a price you either accept or leave. It is efficient, and it removes the one thing that actually resolves problems: two people talking before anything goes wrong. On imcomingg, the chat thread comes first, and everything else is built around it.
The five messages
- What the job is. "Short ride, two of us, one small bag, [pickup] to [drop-off]."
- What it costs. The driver replies with one all-in number and what it includes.
- What is not included. Waiting time, tolls, extra stops. Named before anyone moves.
- When and exactly where. Not "the mall" — the entrance, the side, the landmark.
- Anything unusual. A wheelchair, a child seat, a leaking tiffin, a delivery deadline, a parcel that must not be tipped.
Five messages, under a minute. Almost every dispute we hear about is one of these five going unsaid.
Why written beats a phone call
- It is on record. Both sides see the same history. Nobody has to remember what was said.
- It crosses languages. Written text can be translated, read twice, and understood at your own speed. A phone call in a second language at a noisy roadside cannot.
- It is quiet. Drivers can read a message at a light. They should not be taking calls while driving.
- It carries the details. Addresses, gate codes, receiver phone numbers and flight times all survive being typed. They rarely survive being spoken once.
Keep the conversation inside the chat rather than moving to a private number. Once it leaves the thread, neither of you can point to what was agreed.
For drivers: chat is your sales tool
The rider is looking at a list of drivers who are all online right now. What separates you is the first reply. A clear number, a realistic arrival time and one line of reassurance about the thing they are worried about — the luggage, the deadline, the parcel — wins the job more often than being the cheapest name on the list.
For riders: chat is your protection
Agreeing the price before the trip starts means there is no number to argue about at the end. Confirming the pickup point means the driver arrives where you actually are. Sending a photo of a sealed parcel means its condition at handover is not in question. None of that requires trust in a stranger — it just requires typing.
When chat does not solve it
Sometimes it genuinely does not work: no reply, a driver who will not come, a disagreement that is going nowhere. Then use the tools around the chat. Cancel — it is free until the trip starts, and rebook from the drivers showing a green dot. Ask AI Live for the exact steps for your situation. Report the booking if something was wrong, with the thread as your evidence.
The thread is not just a convenience. It is the record that makes everything else on the platform fair.
